♥ Chocolat -

New as she was to this town, her paws could beat the path to this particular place in her sleep.

Chocolat had been born in the midwest, and had lived with her humans several hours from shore before they'd moved. She'd never experienced what beach or ocean was before they'd all come here, and when one of her very first walks in this new town had been to this particular beach, she had been enthralled.

The ocean was endless; she had never seen so much water in her life. At first, she had been terrified, worried that the blue would swallow her up, that the waves were some animation of water incarnate, come to attack her. Soon, however, with the coaxing of her male human and some time, she came to find out that the truth was the opposite: the ocean was awesome, the ultimate pool but far more fun, and salty! It threw up sticks to play with, and the waves were as fun to crash into as it was to swim, and it was just generally a really great place to be. The sand got all in her fur, which was great until she got home and had to be brushed and whatnot-- but that was a future issue, and the beach was very much a place of the Now.

This was the first time she was going to the cove herself, and that filled her with an anticipation that was special all of it's own right: it was exciting to be out of the house at all, to roam free during the day without the knowledge of her human parents. What excitements would the beach hold without them there? Would she even be able to get there safely? She had been getting lost quite a bit since she'd started leaving the house on her own, unfamiliar with the town they had moved to.

Today, Chocolat's fears were unfounded: she found herself at the beach in quicker time then it took her to come with her humans, and with joy she barked and leapt eagerly to the water. Dignity be damned: she had an entire ocean to play with!

the other day i drew myself a map It was one of those days when Albert was out doing whatever it was that humans did during the day, leaving Zhubin alone at home once more. Not that he cared, much. Of course he missed his human, but he knew that every night, Master Albert would return home. But now was one of those days when he felt like roaming, and he planned on visiting the beach. He had walked there with his human before, so he remembered the route clearly. With ease, he jumped onto the top of his fence, and jumped down onto the other side. It didn't have to be a long walk, but Zhubin was out for a stroll. By the time he was actually able to make out the salty sea breeze from the direction of the vast ocean, it was already late morning, early noon. But the destination was only half the fun, he knew that as much as any other wandering soul. He had enjoyed the morning hustle and bustle of the town, hearing humans talking and cars rumbling by, and now he was about to enter a paradise of peace, where the rolling waves crashed gracefully and the seagulls chatted endlessly. He would never know another place like Almira, where such different environments could be so close together. However it didn't seem as if he was the only one that had wanted to enjoy the beach. A young dark german shepherd dog was frolicking in the water, having quick a blast. Tail wagging, he was eager to make a new friend. "Well! Good day to you, miss!" He called out as he approached her. His paws hit the water, and he was grateful for the recent haircut he had gotten. If not for that, it would've been very hard to shake out the water, and a wet walk home was never a comfortable one. He dipped his head respectfully to the female. "My name is Zhubin. It is a pleasure to make your acquaintance, miss." He said. He looked back up and noticed that she was wearing the signature mark of the common house dog. "I say, what a fine collar you bear." He complimented with a grin. "You must have a wonderful human to live with."  so i could figure out your head

♥ Chocolat -

The gentle crash of the waves was loud in her ears, and her nose full of salty sea-scents blowing in from the wider ocean, and try as she might, Chocolat could not quell the excitement that she felt, playing in the surf. It felt good and it was fun, and she was so focused on it that she neglected to pay much attention to anything else. The thought of looking dignified in case a stranger came slipped away from her mind like the surf slipped back into the ocean, replaced with childish glee at the water. Her attention towards the sea, she didn't sense Zhubin until he spoke. She'd been in the middle of pouncing on some crustacean which the surf had carried towards her paws, and so she twisted in midair, paws landing on it's shell, but her attention had shifted to the strange dog.

For a minute she blinked, in confusion, and then she stood up a little straighter and let the crustacean go back to it's digging (which had truly been her intention all along; she was just playing). She offered Zhubin a bashful little smile, internally horrified that he'd seen her acting so puppyish, and said "Good morning to you as well, sir." She picked her way out of the surf and then dipped her head to him as well, saying. "The pleasure is all mine; I am Chocolat." She pronounced her name in the not-entirely-correct french that her pet humans used: sho-koh-lot.

Her collar was something she particularly was proud of, and his complimenting it had her perking her head up and stiffening proudly, to show it off. She loved it, and so did her humans: collar shopping was an indulgence she participated in whenever they decided it had gotten too worn. "Thank you!" And her tone was brighter then it had been, all embarrassment and formalities forgotten, replaced with joy and excitement. "Yes! My humans are wonderful! I have two of them. My only complaint is that they leave for so long during the day now. It's so dull without them." she sighed; that was a new development, and one she didn't like. But she had someone to keep her company, and that wasn't dull at all. Once again focusing her attention on Zhubin, she wagged her tail and appraised him. He, too, had a collar, and his coat was groomed in ways you only saw on house-dogs. Truly, she'd never seen a dog quite like him before, with such beautiful hair and long legs. "I take it you also have humans?"

the other day i drew myself a map The Afghan Hound smiled when the German Shepherd approached him with a bashful smile. He figured that she must not be used to socializing with strangers, and maybe she was the type of dog who usually just stayed at home and only saw her humans. Or maybe she just wasn't expecting company. But he was glad to see that she was actually very well mannered, which cannot come from being under-socialized. She even had quite an exotic name. "Chocolat... What an extraordinary name." He complimented. She seemed to come out of her shell much more when he complimented her collar, and he chuckled at her enthusiasm. It was always refreshing to meet a dog who wasn't completely against all of humanity. "Yes, my human's name is Albert. Maybe your humans and mine could meet up sometime, and we can all have a swell little party?" He suggested. It just seemed polite to ask such a thing, since both of them seemed to be very fond of their humans and their humans didn't seem to be bad at all. Well, at least Chocolat's humans didn't seem all that bad. Zhubin knew his human wasn't bad. "And yes, that is what a lot of humans do. It is something to get used to, I admit, but I'm sure a lithe young body like you could jump your fence and explore the town? I find myself doing that quite often, and it keeps me from being lonely." Either Chocolat was a lot younger than he had originally thought, or she was just unused to having her humans out of the house. He had always been under the impression that all humans were out of the house for most of the day. But then again, he rethought what he said and found the advice to be pointless. If the female hadn't thought of that before, then why would she be here? Oh, his foolishness. "Aherm, so um, what brings you to this lovely shore, Miss Chocolat?" Saying that name made him feel somewhat like royalty. It was the kind of name that was so foreign, it had to be special and was only given from special humans to their special dogs. so i could figure out your head
